Basic Introduction:Fasteners are a general term for mechanical components used to fasten and connect two or more parts (or components) into a single unit.

Application:Fasteners are widely used mechanical components for fastening connections. They can be found in various machinery, equipment, vehicles, ships, railways, bridges, buildings, structures, tools, instruments, meters, and daily items.

Fasteners are characterized by a wide variety of types and specifications, diverse performance and uses, and a high degree of standardization, serialization, and generalization. As a result, some fasteners that have national standards are referred to as standard fasteners, or simply standard parts.

Fasteners are among the most widely used basic mechanical components. Each specific fastener product has particular requirements for specifications, dimensions, tolerances, weight, performance, surface conditions, marking methods, as well as acceptance inspection, labeling, and packaging.

Common Testing Instruments:The most important part of fastener development and design is quality control, which involves several stages from incoming material to finished product shipment. These stages have different testing methods.

  • Incoming materials:Appearance, dimensions, elements, performance, and hazardous substance detection.
  • Processing:Appearance, dimensions, knock test, and forging flow line.
  • Heat treatment:Appearance, hardness, torque, tensile strength, and metallography.
  • Surface treatment:Hydrogen embrittlement test, plating, salt spray test, and hazardous substance detection.
  • Dimensions and appearance:2D measuring instruments, profile measuring instruments, coordinate measuring machines, and optical sorting machines (full selection machines).
  • Mechanical and chemical testing:Hardness testers (Rockwell and Vickers), tensile testers, and metallographic microscopes.
  • Material testing:Spectrometers and salt spray testing machines.
